This is a picture of the Spanich Mackerel that got eaten by a barraccuda before we could reel it in.
A non too hurried departure this morning. We were able to sail off the mooring buoy and sail the entire way to the entrance to Spanish Waters in Curacao 35 miles west from Bonaire. Very leisurely day reading and chatting on the way over. The local coast guard plane buzzed us to check we were bona fide. Curacao is only 35 miles from the Venezuelan coast and they are looking for drug smugglers. Don't think David and I look dodgy, just an ordinary middle aged couple out for a pleasure sail.
The entry into Spanish Waters wasn't as leisurely. Turns out the GPS and the electronic charts don't align showing us sailing over land and when there are rocks and reefs noted on the chart one would be happier knowing precisely where they are in relation to Jackster's keel. I took forward position on the bow and we eye balled out way in and anchored behind Inspiration Lady. It's a protected lagoon surrounded on all sides by land except for the narrow and winding channel in from the open sea and big enough to hold double the 100 boats that are already here, 2 yacht clubs, and a marina.
Jackie on Inspiration Lady had cooked us a welcome dinner and we had a fun evening catching up with their news and getting the low down on the island.
