As
boats have left we were able to move closer to the beach and in to
the lee of the coconut trees. Our new spot, with the anchor in 12m,
50m ahead is 09°34.99N 079°40.41W and it is a mill pond while the
wind gusts 20 to 25 knots. Great for the wind generator and for
drying laundry.
Staying
in one spot for a week is restful and useful for doing jobs around
the boat like re-gluing the rubbing strake on the keel of the dinghy,
taking a walk on the island or being around when the vegetable boat,
or lobster boat, is in the anchorage. The Kuna entrepreneurs load up
their large, outboard driven canoes with fruit, vegetables, beer,
wine and dry goods and bring them out to us. It's a wonderful
service.
We also have canoes bringing lobster for sale. We pay
about $4 a pound and find a 1kg animal has enough meat in the tail
and legs to make us a couple of meals. I went through all my cook
books to find cooking times and recipes. When you have so much it's
important to find new ways to serve it up. David's favourite is with
a fresh tomato and cream sauce on linguine. Rich and delicious.
