13 April 2009 From Simpson Bay into Simpson Lagoon

A week at anchor is Simpson bay on the Dutch side of St Maarten and we are ready to leave the rolling behind. There is a steep cost to use the channel under the lifting bridge to enter the land locked lagoon but we understand you only pay if you go up to the office and offer. There's also a per week charge of $40 to anchor inside on the Dutch side. However, if you cross the line in the sand, or rather the border into French waters there's no charge. Unsurprisingly the Dutch side is less busy than the French side.
