17 May 2009 Fingers crossed

And we really are on our way to St Barts ( actually it was almost to Saba but more later). David found no obvious problem with the fuel feed yesterday so we upped anchor and tried once more. What did kick the engine was being tough with it and throttling forward as fast as possible. Like those big power boats you've seen in Miami cop shows – we gave her the wellie, put the pedal to the metal, thrashed the **** off and kapow! We were running again.

I took the helm and set the course for St Barts which was rising magnificently on the horizon. That was until I properly checked the new navigation system and realised we were heading to Saba. I should have known it was wrong because the wind was in the perfect direction.

Reached St Barts in the afternoon and moored in the national park bay of St Colombier.
