When the wind blows hard with forecasts of gale strength it's prudent to stay at the marina for one more night. David is still persevering with our errant electric navigation system which continues to spit the dummy everytime we switch it on. To give him more room to work I hopped on my bike and dashed off to the marina office to let know we were staying another night and while I was there I just happened to espies the Auckland fish market.
Fish foodie heaven, slabs of fish on ice and tanks crawling with monster lobsters know as horse lobsters. I don't know if they were caught locally but I've never seen such big boys. There were scallops and we know they're good. Attached to the market was a specialist food hall with everything from game meats, to pastas to fresh to fresh fruit and vegetables. I even found a Greek fish roe dip called taramasalata which we used to buy often when we were in England but has turned out to be a rarity in our travels. It was reassuringly expensive and David's worth every dollar.
Our neighbours Cindy and Glen on Mystery Ship invited us for sundowners this evening. I don't know about the sun going down but it wasn't far from coming up by the time we left at midnight. They are wonderful company, Glen and David have both raced cars so they can talk cam shafts and torque while Cindy and I can talk dressage and horses and everything else in between. Good job there's no work for us tomorrow.
