Tuesday 31 May Up up and away

Savusavu anchorage
It's time to move on from Savusavu. The new debit card I've been waiting for from UK arrived yesterday and I can collect it from the post office this morning. David is collecting spare carbon brushes for the furling motors from a mechanic in town, a final trip to the fruit and vegetable market, a trip to the meat lady for final stocks. The Bligh lines cargo ship arrives from Lautoka at 6am each Tuesday morning with a cargo of fresh meat (good quality stuff) from the Fiji Meat Company. A very nice lady at the Waitui marina keeps all the ex-pats and yachties supplied with Danish bacon, ham, steaks, pork and the best sausages we've had in a long time.

Not all went to plan. The carbon brushes had to be altered to fit our motors twice and we didn't get out of harbour until 5pm. Luckily we were only going a short way down the coast to anchor off the Cousteau dive resort. We ate on dinner board for the first time since the day we arrived, wonderful Thai sausages on the barbecue, sweet potato mash and bok choi – all local produce. It's feel good to be back on anchor and the added bonus of picking up free wifi on the baot frm the resort.
