scalloped hammerhead |
Our second day of close encounters with wildlife; on the run from Manta Pass down to Waya island we saw a lone hammerhead shark swimming on the surface. He came in close and at one point swam under the bow. Then on the way into Yalombi Bay we spotted a small pod of bottlenose dolphins. They were so playful and friendly Amy and Andrew jumped in and swam with them – not for long – the dolphins checked them and decided they weren't good playmates and swam away. Interesting how dolphins love the sound of engines and boats cutting through the water and yet become shy, or wary, if a human comes too close.

A wonderful day for interacting with the animals and a treat for our guests.

Friday afternoon rugby |
We anchored behind a small reef and went in to the village to offer sevusevu to the chief. As today is Friday there was an inter village rugby game taking place at the school which we went along to watch. I think most of the island was there cheering on their team, the ladies were roly cheer leaders and the men passed the kava bowl.
