Monday 20 January Koh Dam Khwan

late afternoon Dam Khwan
Our last island stop on the Phang Nga tour was Koh Dam Khwan, four miles east from Rai Lay beach. There are three islands, large, small and large joined by sand spits at low water. And visited by hundreds each day. At high tide there's no walking between the islands but at low water watching people walking back and forth is like watching ants going to and fro. We kayaked (of course) across to the small middle island in the late afternoon when many of the boats had left and coinciding with low water so we could walk across the causeway too.
It's a lovely anchorage overnight in either the north easterly or south west season as you can anchor either side. It's also quiet with only us and one super yacht anchored way off in the distance.

  1. Hello folks !! Glad to see you are enjoying Thailand, love the photos, can't wait to get there too !! I'm currently boat sitting for Saol Eile, Calypso and Yolo, they've all gone off on a 5 week jaunt to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. I had a months overland travel through Thailand over Xmas. I see you are splashing the cash on Jackster with a new main sail, for info we had one of our motors pack up too - twice, cleared the dust out but think we had to swap it for a spare Paraic had (he likes keeping spares). As i've got another 4 weeks to go i'll grab a pot of tea and read your blog !! All the best, Simon.
