We
motored back to Nai Yang, also known as the airport anchorage, from
the Similans a week ago. Where did the week go? First, we had to
work our way to south with a stop in Patong before Chalong Bay where
we had our list of last 'jobs to do' in Thailand' before we clear
out. Our mizzen sail required some TLC; it's five years old and in
need of a nip and tuck to restore it's shape. Sailmaker Ket took
care of this for us. I wanted to do victualling ready for the trip
back to Langkawi and it was time to start ordering boat parts wanted
for when we haul out in three weeks.
On
Wednesday we took bags of washing to the self service laundry. To
fill the hour while this completed we popped across the road for
lunch at our favourite noodle bar and then a haircut for me where the
lady speaks little English but cuts well. Happy tums, nice new hair
and clean sheets, what do we need to complete the day? A bit of
indulgence with a Thai massage. Fifteen minutes later while my lady
masseur was inflicting deep tissue, pressure point, deeply pain I was
questioning my definition of indulgence. Her strong fingers found
the all the knots in my calves, folded me in impossible ways
stretching quads, hamstrings and muscles I have no name for, dug her
elbow in my butt cheek to find the really sore bit there too. Next
to me David was having his massage and I just had time to notice he
was holding his breath to supress any sign of weakness while I was
doing the yoga thing and breathing into the pain interspersed with
'ows' , pulled facce and sharp intakes of breath. As I limped away I
wondered whether I need more massages to undo the knots or should I
opt for the more gentle oil massage?
