A stitch
in time saves nine is the saying and restitching a short length of
the sacrificial sun strip on the headsail this morning saved the
possibility of restitching the whole length, or worse, ripping the
sail. We spotted it on the sail over from Terengganu and with nil
wind and nil swell it was the perfect time.
With no
wind and with the sewing machine on the foredeck we dropped the sail,
machined the 1m length and had the sail back up and furled in double
quick time. So speedy we were able to catch the high tide and sail
on to Pulau Lakei for the evening.
Pulau
Lakei could be described as a hidden anchorage, a sheltered passage
between mainland and a long thin island which is a good place to
stage to begin the trip up the coast to Miri. We were 7 boats in the
eastern anchorage and there would have been room for another 3 or 4
boats.
We
didn't see them, but Malaika who arrived earlier in the day, had been
watching sea otters on the beach.
