When we arrived last week it had been our plan to leave on Saturday morning for a two day trip across to Morotai to rejoin the Raja Ampat fleet. However nature conspired and we were 'forced' to stay another couple of days. A tropical storm is tracking north of us heading to the Philippines which has caused winds and sea between Sulawesi and Morotai to increase to over 25 knots with unpleasant seas. We were also told due to the bad weather the festivities which had been planned for today were now put back to 18tth to allow the other boats to cross from Sangihe in better conditions. Hooray for us. A win, win, win situation. We've had three more great days diving self guided, ie no cost apart from refilling our air tanks, three more days visiting Black Sands Resort, time to take on 250L of diesel and three nights of good sleep in our quiet anchorage.
This afternoon we did our last dive, boo hoo, but found sea horses and a ghost pipe fish meaning we can leave knowing we've seen the Big Five (or equivalent of the Safari Big Five beasts), met some fantastic people, visited Bitung and got fuel
We heartily recommend a visit to any of our dive friends, either by air or by sea. This is unique spot on our vast planet.
