Monday 2 November Return to cruising life

The Admiral returned last week after a successful refit in England; already my new hip has brought a big improvement to the quality of my life. Simply being back with David after ten weeks apart was a huge improvement.
Look what David and Polly, or rather Polly, was doing while I was away...

Can we be friends?

Do you want to play?
Look! I can see fishes!

We've been busy in Langkawi. Jackster is anchored in Telaga harbour in the north of the island where David has been living with the local boatie community. Our friends Ian and Sue (Icy Red) lent us their motorbike for trips. One day we explored the north coast visiting Seven Wells waterfall, a

hidden gem, to the base station of the cable car, rides to the supermarket going local with our bike and selves piled with groceries, and, of course, lunches out. We've found Langkawi eateries, the local places which offer buffet style serve yourself and those prepared to order are delicious and inexpensive. Why cook on board when someone does it better than I can?
We took the cable car trip when we were here two years ago but at that time the Skywalk was closed for repairs and it was a busy Saturday. Now the Skywalk, a suspension bridge over a gorge, is open we wanted to go again. This time we opted for an early Tuesday morning with clear skies. It worked. No queues and wonderful views at the top. While the Skywalk is open work on the train link from the top station to the walk is still in progress and we had a steep walk down rough steps to the bridge but the views made it worth it. We were also fascinated with the engineering of the structure and enjoyed gazing through the glass floor panels to the forest below. Not a view for those with vertigo.

  1. glad you are both on the boat now and gearing up for more cruising - enjoy! We are taking a 6 week visit back home in California for the holidays and then cross the Atlantic in January. There are a number of Amels signed up for the Atlantic Odyssey - even more of us than we had in the Indonesian Rally.

  2. Hope you have a wonderful time in CA. Doesn't it feel odd to be land based rather than boat based? How was Med crusing?
