25 April Jamestown Museum

April is the Festival of Walking and we were booked on a walk around Thompson's Wood, but it had rained heavily through the night and in to the morning and it was decided to cancel the walk. What do you do on a wet day? Visit the museum and the library.
The museum is an excellent introduction to the history of St Helena and well worth a visit. The French prisoner hardly gets a mention. After all he was on the island for only six years out of 516 years of history.
In keeping with our day of learning we popped in to the library. I headed for the reference section first before discovering the magazine corner with comfy armchairs. David went in search of latest titles from his favourite authors. He found three books he wanted to read and the librarian allowed us to join and borrow the books. There's a £5 joining fee and a £20 deposit. I know how David's going to be spending his weekend.
