11 October Day 10 Painting

An early alarm before dawn this morning and we're in the yard applying the 2nd coat of antifoul as the sun rises. In the cooler air the paint stays pliable for longer and it is certainly more comfortable to work at this time. At 8am we are finished and head back to the apartment for a leisurely breakfast.

an early start

Over the last week I have been washing all the cushion covers on the boat. Two or three machine loads each evening washed and dried overnight and I've done it. They so clean they look new again.

Mid afternoon Johnny and his yard crew come to move the supporting chocks so David can sand and roll on the first coat of paint on these 11 virgin squares. We are on schedule to go back in the water tomorrow afternoon.

Our last night in the apartment with Polly. She's made herself quite at home but I think she'll prefer to have the freedom of the boat. I do a last couple of washes – I'm going to miss the large washing machines and driers. It was an unexpected bonus.

Another bonus was that our car rental man, Zavid, doesn't need the car until midday tomorrow which will allow us to transfer everything back to Jackster at our leisure.

  1. Sorry to hear the hired help didn't work out. Believe me, I feel for you. It's painful when you are on a schedule and thought you were going to get time off without having to do the #$@! jobs, but it could be worse. Sounds like your deliveries went mostly well considering. Hope you're off now enjoying another sailing season in beautiful waters!
