Today we are going to be sailing south to St Lucia. It's only 6 hours but we have to go slightly east of south which means a close haul port tack with an east setting current. At least there's very little swell so no bashing into waves which makes for a happier Polly cat.
We've done our final season shop in Carrefour and I couldn't get another piece of cheese or saucisson in the fridge, or duck breast in the freezer.
We wanted to do laundry at the self service place (industrial size machines) but the water for Fort de France was turned off for the day. There is currently a drought affecting all of the Caribbean islands. In Martinique this means a rolling list of towns/areas that have their supply cut during the day. We didn't know this and turned up to find the laundry shut, so our dirty laundry had a trip to town, visited the chandlery while we cleared out and came back at 7am today ahead of our departure. I can dry it on the line when we are anchored in St Lucia this afternoon.
...We arrived in Rodney Bay at 4 o'clock for an overnight stop. I hung out the washing while David made a 'we're here' afternoon beverage and all was dry by the time the sun was setting.
