We departed from Nassau bound for Allan's Cay in the Exumas. A trip that entailed a change of pants for all. Our course took us across the very shallow Bahamas Bank with a minimum of clear water under the keel for almost 2 hours and with the bonus of uncharted coral heads lying just below the surface. Needless to say we proceeded carefully with a lookout on each side of Jackster. She is doing us proud - kicking up her heels and glad to be sailing once more. We hope we will become worthy sailors for her
Our first attempts at anchoring were thwarted by a twisted anchor neck. No matter how carefully we chose our spot and
laid the CQR, it just wouldn't hold. Not good in 20 knots of wind with an opposing current and a sandbank to one side and rocks to the other. After an hour I spotted our problem, we switched to the other anchor and this one held.
For anyone watching us they'd have thought we were prairie dogs. You how they bob up and down from their burrows looking out for dangers. That was us. Up and down at every creak and move to check we weren't dragging. We didn't.
