6 March 2009 Hogs Bay

Wind strength has increased and blowing a hooley from the north so we left our very roly anchorage in Road Town and hopped along the south coast to Hogs Bay to pick up a mooring buoy for the night.

This is not the easiest entrance bay for a boat like Jackster with a 2m draft as it gets very shallow at the edges. We were lucky and got the last buoy available and then sat it out. There's not a lot to do in Hogs Bay. We pestered the English girl who works at the dive shop to get more local info on the dive sites. Ron and David and dive buddies from many years and he was keen to get in the water. However, the weather hasn't been playing ball – gusty and big waves – could mean we don't get to as many sites as we'd planned to. Is it's Murphy's Law – what can go wrong will go wrong. To be fair Ron did warn us that as soon as he arrives at his holiday destination the weather deteriorates. Is he an evil imp?

7 March 2009 Marina Cay
We'd wanted to get up to the north of the BVIs and Gorda Sound, but a big northerly swell put a firm stop to Plan A. Plan B was rolled into action and we turned left to Marina Cay – a small island surrounded on 3 sides by a coral reef and in the middle an hotel and bar owned by Pussers Rum. Would have been extremely rude not to try one of their cocktails. Delicious , and even more delicious when taken whilst sitting under a palm frond.
