Monday 18 July Musket Cove

Oh my! A very uncomfortable night at Navadra. The wind swung to the north and turned us beam onto the shore and incoming swell. We rocked like a Weeble and didn't fall down. By 8am and with little sleep during the night we threw in the towel, lifted anchor and followed Stray Kitty to Musket Cove. Of course we had wind on the nose all the way and once inside the fringing reef of Malolo it dropped completely. Just after lunch we were anchored in the famous Musket Cove, noted for cruiser parties and for being a vortex – once swept in, it was difficult to leave.

Riding the tube
Arriving at the yacht club we found out why the last week had been so roly in the Yasawas- the largest swell ever seen in Fiji had been happening.  So large it attracted the top surfers worldwide to come and ride the tubes.

Marina pontoon and beach bar
We went into the yacht club and got lifetime membership for a few pennies and with it access to the resort facilities. It's a lovely resort, large and nicely done. There's three restaurants, a swimming pool, bars, dive shop and for yachties a laundry, showers and internet access. I've got a month's worth of blogging to update with photos and the usual admin to catch up on plus I'd like to Skype home and talk to my family.
