We picked our way through the reefs under cloudy skies (sun helps enormously when looking for submerged coral) and blustering winds with David climbing up the main mast as far as the first spreaders as look out giving me, on helm, the direction to steer and reached the pass into Vatulutu bay without incident and with plenty of depth under the keel. Inside the bay we tucked behind the island and mangrove seashore we found flat calm water and good holding in mud for a peaceful night.
