Sunday 9 September Malakati bay, Nadula

Anchors aweigh! And we're off after spending 8 days in Blue Lagoon. I think our anchor thought it was dug in for the season! However, it was only a short hop north to Malakati bay on the west coast of Nadula island.

Wow, this place has the WOW factor in bucket loads. The kind of pristine, long white beach, backed by palm trees you see in New Caledonia. A far prettier beach than Blue Lagoon in our (limited) experience. We're travelling with the Kiwi mob of Vixen 7 and Sea Esta and there's plenty of room for us all to swing in 5m crystal clear water over sand.

Look at the blue water - amazing

We visited the chief in the village to present our kava for sevusevu. He didn't keep us long - I think because he wanted to get to his Sunday lunch – so we were free to wander the village, visit the kindergarten and check out the church.
Back on board Jackster, David had an urge to make us some bread and while it was rising we went out for a snorkel on the reef. The reef is in very good health with many different hard and soft corals. Using my snorkel was a challenge as I found it had been broken in the locker. David did a taped repair which worked well the first time but now it's struggling to hold it's shape and I have to work hard for every breathe in and out. When we go back to Denarau / Nadi I'll be buying a new one. Only fifteen years old and it's broken!
