Tuesday 11 September Land Harbour, Yasawa island

Leaving the white sands of Malakati Bay behind we headed 7 miles north to the south west anchorage of Land harbour on Yasawa island. A little bit more tricky to negotiate the path in than into Malakati as this is largely uncharted. We used Google Earth imagery to find the deeper water route between the reefs and tucked up under a small rock outcrop.
Using our solar fish finder, an elaborate name for a glass bottom bucket, we surveyed the surrounding coral bommies for potential snorkelling tomorrow. What we saw gave us great encouragement – some of the most pristine and varied hard corals we've seen anywhere. Acres of undamaged stag horn, table, lettuce, blue and many more with names unknown, just below the surface. If the visibility improves tomorrow this could be another dive.

With all this enthusiasm bubbling we went over to Vixen 7 for drinks and to roust others to join us for a swim tomorrow.
