| adapting to summer heatwave |
It's
amazing how quickly we have adapted to living in a city once more. I
was looking at the photos from New Caledonia, the crystal clear
waters and all its natural beauty and looked up to see the muddy
Brisbane river, ferries streaming past us set against a backdrop of
traffic noise pollution. The temperatures have been rising too; on
Monday the high was 40C. To escape this, and for pure escapism, we
went to cinema in the afternoon to see the new James Bond film,
Skyfall. The AC was so efficient my feet were freezing by the end of
the show and I was glad to get outside to warm up again. Guess
there's no pleasing me. Too hot outside. Too cold inside.

David's
been enjoying free wifi in the Botanical Gardens while I've been
indulging in browsing the shops, testing perfumes which I'll never
buy and enjoying wearing my more 'dressy' frocks. It's a nice
change, for a while, to dress up and go shopping, to call in to the
supermarket and pick up some prawns for dinner.
