| arrival in Brisbane |
We're
here. Five days after leaving new Caledonia and we cleared Customs
late afternoon before continuing up the river to anchor in the heart
of the city as the sun was setting.
Biosecurity
were very kind and took nothing but our bag of rubbish. Customs
spent longer looking through all the cupboards and under the floors.
Still no nasties found.
As
we came up the river, about 10 miles with a strong in flowing current
we were impressed by the attractiveness of the 'burbs and then the
grandeur of the high rise CBD. We'd seen the high blocks from more
than 20 miles; they dominate the skyline.
Later
sitting in the cockpit with our 'we're here G&T' we watched the
river ferries and paddle steamers pass close down our starboard side
and then our port side as we switched direction in the current.
There's nothing like being in the thick of the action
