Since
our cracking sail through the Singapore Straits we've not had enough
wind to sail at any speed without the engine. It's been motor, motor,
motor. On the upside, once we turned around the south east corner of
Malaysia into the South China Sea the seawater turned blue and clear
and inviting – a heavenly change after Danga Bay aka Diaper for the
rubbish and filth washed down the river.

An
overnight stop at Pulau Sibu was the perfect opportunity to get in
the water and clean the hull. Even after six weeks in dirty river
water we didn't have any barnacles. I'm not sure barnacles like
brackish water which might explain this or it could be we the new
antifoul applied just before we arrived at Danga Bay. However there
was a nasty build up of orange scum along the waterline which came
off with a wipe with a cloth.
Perhaps
the bet thing about cleaning the hull was the sea – it's warm,
really warm.
We
sailed into the anchorage at Tioman island ahead of a storm this
afternoon and anchored next to Saol Eile and Yolo. Calypso arrived
a few minutes later and we all went out for dinner to celebrate
Maureen's (Calypso) birthday.
