We
left Kudat on Saturday and have day hopped to Silingan island, one of
three islands in the marine park. A super typhoon was developing
and heading towards the Philippines about 600nm north and east of us.
The weather forecasts were suggesting this generate strong SW winds
where we are. Therefore each anchorage was chosen to give us
protection from the south and west; Banggi island, Silk island,
Jambongan island, and the strong winds didn't materialise. The super
typhoon went on to make a mess in Japan.
We
reached Silingan, or Turtle island, late in the afternoon and dropped
the hook on the north side of the island in 18m of water.
