Two
days ago the rally organiser, Sazli, told us we were invited to a
dinner at the hotel. Yesterday the venue was changed to a visit to a
homestay and dinner there. Homestays are a way for tourists to stay
with a family and join in with the day to day family life. The
rally has been to several of them for lunches as we've moved around
Malaysia. This evening it was an hour's drive south to a beach on
the west coast which we'd all sailed past a few days before.
Our
lovely hosts greeted us with handmade bead necklaces and music and
dancing on the beach. As the sunset the lovely girls and boy twirled
and whirled with the band playing and a back drop of sandstone
cliffs.
After
the sunset we were able to have dinner; it's Ramadan, the month of no
eating during daylight hours. We ate the food and the bugs ate us!
