Destination Wayag. You can enter anytime but it's hard to leave. While we've been here the southerly wind has continue to blow – air streams fuelling the succession of tropical storms passing over the Philippines to the north of us – and as all destinations are south we were hoping for a break. Tomorrow looks like the best option. Our plan is to try to reach Minyaifun, our original planned point, which is 35miles SSE from here. It could be another interesting beat to wind.
We've been living in Wayag for over a week, drift snorkelling the southern passage on an incoming tide, flying over bommies covered with huge gorgonian fans, big schools of big fish, more leisurely snorkelling along the south wall of the northern entrance where I saw my first shark for a long time, healthy hard and soft corals, good visibility, giant, giant clams and no visible human damage.

There are eight boats here strung along the same channel and when you get cruisers together there has to be a party on the beach. A cool drink, nibbles and good company while we watch the sun set on another beautiful day. OK. It's any excuse to get together and have a drink!
