| out with the old (R), in with the new |
Our
Chief Engineer got down to business this morning to fit the new
transmission. Step one was to paint the unit to protect it – a
coat of special aluminium paint which etches into the housing
followed by a restful shade of turquoise which nearly matches the
green paint on the Volvo Penta engine. Pictures here are of the new
and old units side by side and a view into the engine room showing
how using a length of 4x4 wood across the hatch and cargo straps
David was able to lift and slide the engine block back and away from
the transmission. We are fortunate to have room to swing a large cat
in the engine room.
By the
end of the day all was fitted and adjusted.
