We're back in Phuket for our second Thailand visit
this season, this time we have a 30 day visa on arrival, time for relaxing,
exploring and more boat jobs.

Nai Harn bay |
Relaxing in Nai Harn bay; fishing for small fish to feed the cat, visiting the French boulangerie
for baguettes, croissants and fine coffee, hiring a motorbike to explore the
south part of the island and trips across to Chalong where an engineer was
servicing our old engine coolant pump to bring it back to full health, a run up
to the chandleries at Boat Lagoon marina returning with a back pack full of
goodies and a trip to the sail and rope maker, Rolly Tasker, to get replacement
ropes for the mainsail outhaul. All good
stuff and not available elsewhere in SE Asia so easily.
On one of our explorations we came across the
Aquarium at Panwa Cape and popped in to have a look. While I enjoy seeing the
fishes I was disappointed by the poor quality of the display environments. Some, like the seahorse tank, had only the
pump equipment and 50 seahorses – no rocks, grass, sand or what would have been
an approximation of their native habitat.
Sad. The tank for the juvenile
sharks was far too small for their size and number.

On a happier note, we met with Jack and Jan of
Anthem who we haven't seen for almost two years, in Nai Harn and Lorraine and
Graham of Lorrigray in Chalong.
