19 January Events in Le Gosier

The memories we take from our short visit to Le Gosier are it rolls a lot, nice Friday evening fresh produce market and lucky to leave without a scratch.

On the second day we had stronger winds and squalls. In one of the squalls the catamaran which had been ahead and to the left of us started to drag with no crew on board. Luckily I was on deck closing hatches and saw it moving towards us. Our fear was it was going to drag its anchor over our anchor. David started our engine and as he moved us forward I began lifting the anchor chain. As we moved out of the way the cat slipped passed with less than 2 metres clearance. Phew!

Two locals jumped in their dinghies to chase and eventually got the anchor to set more than a mile from where it had been.

Next day as the forecast predicted stronger easterlies to come we sailed to the more comfortable Iles des Saintes.
