Thursday, 11 February Portobelo studying

A quiet day in the old fortress town of Portobelo. In the morning we were writing emails to send this afternoon when we go into 'town' to the public library to use the internet but were interrupted by welcome visits from friends passing in their dinghies. Ralf and his Thai bride, Yai from the Swiss boat Dilan. He swears at her in German, she swears back in Thai. A happy couple.
We called a Panama Canal agent in Cristobal and arranged to meet him in Cristobal tomorrow morning.
We made it to the library (small building with four book shelves, a bike in t he corner, personal photos of the librarians family and friends, a big world map and three computers for public use) and had finished our business in 30 minutes. It felt like 30 minutes. However, the clock showed we'd been there for 2 hours. We dashed back to the dinghy and rowed out to Jackster in the rain (our large out board is safely stowed in a locker and the smaller out board is out but refusing to start) and on to Chrisandaver Dream for sundowners. We had such a good time it turned into a late night. We didn't get home until nearly 10.30pm! Wild stuff.
