Wednesday 26 January Swings and roundabouts

Yesterday's frustration with the GPS system was counter balanced by a bit of luck. Our dinghy is past it's prime. It's become a deflatable with more leaks than in the run up to an election. When there are more patches than original fabric it's time t consider replacement. Roll on that chance comment from another cruiser, our friends on Mystery Ship. “We're replacing our dinghy with a larger model and need to sell this one.” It couldn't have been a more perfect arrangement. Old faithful deflatable was ignominiously stripped of his cover, the locker emptied and as he was dispatched to the dinghy dock in the sky and our shiny new, non deflating tender (with wheels for pulling up onto the beach!) took pride of place on Jackster's foredeck. In return Glen & Cindy had a clear space for their new tender and some tokens to put towards it.
Shiny new dinghy
In the bright afternoon sunshine we motor sailed out of Auckland to Islington Bay between conjoined Rangitoto and Motutape islands. We're 7miles and a world away from the urban sprawl of the city.
