Sometimes
on our travels the double advantage of a yacht and being set up to go
diving from the mother boat has enabled us to reach parts many others
never see. Diving on the wall, the immaculate, pristine, rarely
dived walls of Binongko was spectacular. There's no tourism on this
island, no anchorage for yachts and it's just too far for the few
liveaboards in the area to visit so we had the rare privilege to see
coral unharmed by man. That's a rarity. One reads of biodiversity,
here there are species of coral I've never seen before, so many
different species, the same with varieties of anemones, truncates,
sponges. Clarity was in the region of 30m with the wall dropping at
least 100m below us and lots and lots of fishes and a few turtles.
As our American friends would say, we were stoked on our diving
today, ie excited.
My
only regret is not having an underwater camera to capture the images
beyond my memory.
