Yesterday's
dive was so much fun we stayed for a second dive on the morning slack
tide. Another very good dive but we weren't quite so lucky with
current and it picked up while we were down so there were times when
we had to fin hard to reach the next protected niche. This time we
saw a one of the biggest trevally's we've ever seen hovering over a
table coral getting his morning scrub down from the cleaner wrasse.
Normally silver in colour when they're free swimming this one had
turned black, perhaps expressing his discomfort as the little fishes
bite off his skin parasites.
It's
a shame to leave but we need to keep moving on. Our anchorage for
the evening was in the crook of Gilli Lawat, a steep too anchorage.
We dropped the anchor in 15m close to the shore and swung out to sit
over 35m. With wind bullets shooting over the hill and catching us
we decided to have a second dive today to check our anchor. A simple
jump in the water off the back of the boat and then following the
chain down to the bottom. All was well and we looked safe to spend
the night here. We continued the dive along the wall with some fine
cabbage corals though not a lot else to see – too protected so no
current sweeping it and therefore a different habitat but you never
know, it could have been a treasure waiting to be found.
