Another
day, another island. This time picture postcard Medang with it's
white beach, clear water, fringing reef and swaying palm trees.
There are three other boats with us today – Southern Wing, Mikosha
and Watusi – and as is the habit of cruisers everywhere, we met on
the beach for sundowners. Southern Wing (Phil and Sandy) are from
Australia and have brought their elderly dog, Sandy, with them on the
trip so David got his dog fix. It was nice to sit on the beach on
our deck chairs with a cold beer and watch the sun go down, less
pleasant were the sand midges and later mosquitoes (not a common
problem so far) which forced us to abandon and return to our boats.
We often choose to anchor a distance from the shore simply to be away
from land pests. It seemed to work tonight.
