Did
you know you can jet wash carpets? We've discovered it's a great way
to revitalise our tired (and dirty) carpets. Why buy new when you
can haul them out on to the dock and use high pressure water to blast
the dirt out?
It
was a chance find too. I'd been using a high pressure attachment on
the water hose (an inexpensive wand like attachment with trigger
action which converts regular hose pipe pressure to higher pressure
found at a DIY store in Australia) to clean the forward head and had
splashed the carpet outside. It needed to go out in the sun to dry
and while I was taking it out the idea crossed my mind. Our top
technician consulted on any downside to soaking nylon carpets with
fresh water and I was off. What joy as the original warm sand colour
appeared from the generic grey. After that I pulled out carpets out
and gave them a blast and hung them up to dry. So next time you
reach for the vacuum cleaner, pause and
consider if the garden hose might be more fun today.
Addendum:
Two weeks later and carpets still looking spruce and feeling like
top quality Axminster underfoot.
