It's
Merry Christmas day here in Langkawi. The sun shone, the wind was
light, temperatures warm, faces glowed and tums were full.

Irish
friends, Myra and Poraich had invited us and three other boats to
join them on Saol Eile (pronounced Sail Ella) for Christmas dinner.
David and I had a leisurely morning, getting up late and then opening
presents. Santa brought me earrings and a new belt, for David three
sachets of cappuccino mix I found forgotten at the back of the
cupboard yesterday. What do you get for the person who doesn't want
anything...except a working chartplotter, new mainsail, watermaker
part, new pump for the air conditioner, filters and impellers?
A
lazy morning then over the Saol Eile to join Gene and Sherry
(Reflections), Karen and Jason (Yolo), Mira and Poraich and Maureen
and Paul (Calypso) for our feast. Mira had the boat looking very
festive with garlands and a Christmas tree. Paraich and Paul had
filled the rope locker at the base of the mizzen (Saol Eile is a
sister boat to Jackster so we knew the trick of where to make a
convenient ice bucket (there's a drain hole in the bottom to let out
melt water)) to keep beer and wine chilled. Sherry and Gene had
purloined one of (allegedly) only four turkeys available on the
island and roasted it. It was a very happy feast and with roast
turkey, pork, lamb, beef and all the trimmings the most traditional
Christmas meal we've had since starting cruising.
I
phoned my parents in England to wish them a Merry Christmas as their
day was starting, seven hours and 25°C difference. Merry Christmas.
