31 December 2019 New Year's Eve

The last day of another year and trying to recall where we were on 31 December 2018. We were in Cartegna, fabulous party city Cartegna, with Ian and Manuela from Mister X. Tonight we're in Cayo Levisa, a beach island and resort off the north coast of Cuba.

We'd booked a table for six in the restaurant for their special buffet including a traditional roasted suckling pig and roast turkey. The cost was CUC25 a head and a bottle of wine from the bar under CUC20. Our party was Linda and Chris from Mon Ark, Maria and Amori from Shanti and us. The chef's did a wonderful job, the musicians serenaded the room and all was well.

Being traditional cruisers we were the last people in the restaurant because cruisers always have just one more story to share and we were the only people in the bar at 11pm. Had all the hotel guests gone to bed before midnight? Don't know but we didn't see them. David went down to the dock to check on our boats because we could feel the wind was strengthening from the east. He dashed back to alert Amori Shanti had dragged anchor. Amori went back to his boat and when he was sure the anchor had caught once more came back to the party.

Apart from Shanti going walkabout it was a good night, a good year and we're looking forward to the next one. Happy New Year.
