26 October Freedom Point anchorage

Freedom Point, or Phoebus bay, or Comfort Point marina anchorage suited us a place to stage our exit from the US. The plan remains to sail to St Maarten via Bermuda.

Anchored in Freedom Point it's ten minutes dinghy ride into Hampton to pick up our DIY Covid PCR tests which have been delivered to the Harbormaster's Office, or three minutes to the public dinghy dock in Phoebus and a short walk to the supermarket, or we go to the restaurant dock at Comfort Point marina and walk around the fort, have a coffee at the Firehouse. We were going to leave the dink on the marina dock but they wanted to charge $10 for the pleasure.

Across Hampton Roads is probably the largest naval shipyard in the world with many aircraft carriers. The channel is busy with traffic from a crane being transported on a ship to this naval stealth vessel.

how do you move a crane?

What is it?

Yesterday afternoon our good chums, Jack and Jan on Anthem pulled in for the night. We had time to get together for a final supper before they left early next morning to round Hatteras. Not sure when we'll see them again – that's the cruising life.

After Jack and Jan left we spent our time either on the internet researching our onward countries or off the boat hunter gathering for final supplies, or walking on the days when the fog lifted and it was sunny.
