At the risk of repeating myself, cruising the world throws up many surprises. Most of them are really good, happy coincidences. For example sailing into English Harbour and anchoring next to old friends you haven't seen since for years.
We
were coming into English Harbour. I was on the bow looking for a
parking space in the busy anchorage when I noticed there was an Amel
54 and two people on it waving madly and calling 'Jackster!' Who?
Tired after the passage it took my myopic eyes a while to focus on
the name on the boom. 'Bamboozle' meaning this was Jamie and Lucy
who we last saw in Fiji nine years ago.Bamboozle II
What an incredible coincidence and a very happy one.
After
we had been health checked officially stamped into the country we
were able to get together with them for sundowners and to swap our
stories.
Next morning I was woken from a deep sleep by the
sound of an anchor chain running out very close to us. When I popped
my head out of the companion way it was to say hello to another old
cruising pal. The last time we saw Proud Cat was in the remote
Chagos archipelago in the middle of the Indian Ocean. It's amazing
who you bump into and in this case we nearly touched hulls.
Cruising – you never know who you're going to meet, and when you might see them again so we never say goodbye, it's 'see you again'.
