5 March Planning our departure

We have 14 days until our three month visas expire and have decided to move island rather than to renew.

When we arrived we had hoped to haul out for our biannual maintenance at Jolly Harbour. However, current restrictions ban living on board when on the hard. You can stay on your boat in a marina when you're in the water, remove the water and it is forbidden. There are villas to rent nearby, but the added expense, difficulties with a cat and Antigua yard prices are similar to US prices leading us to explore our options.

Research led us to a marina in Grenada which ticks all our boxes. The cost of pre departure (U$200 each) and arrival PCR tests (U$150 each) will be recouped by lower yard costs and the two days which it will take us to sail south counts towards the required five days of quarantine on arrival.

The clincher in the deal, the cherry on the cake is that there is a dealer for our preferred antifoul, Jotun, on island. The only import agent in the Caribbean is in Trinidad the next island to the south.

First step toward departure is to go online and book our PCR tests for three days before departure.
