Christmas Day 2021

We were ready for Christmas Day – David had cleared away all his tools, I'd put up the tree, the flashing lights and cards and, for the first time ever, I cooked mince pies. All four packs I'd brought back from England a month ago were long gone but just over a year ago we were in Bermuda and Bermuda has a Marks & Spencer food store where I bought a jar of mincemeat, This year I'm cooking salmon in filo pastry for dinner and thus had spare pastry to make pies. Plus another first, a purchase of whippy cream in a can, and we have pies. I feel so noble, so Jamie Oliver!

Look! David bought me a new boat

Christmas Day is usually a simple, laid back day for just us two. In the morning we had a video call with my Mum in England. it looked much colder there than here. Then I had a dip in the pool and late afternoon a walk up the hill to see the sea and build an appetite for dinner.

It's the tradition to watch a big film on Christmas Day and we had the latest Bond, No Time To Die, through Amazon.

Nothing exceptional, just a simple day.
