It's a short hop south from Les Saintes to Rupert Bay on the north west side of Dominica. We were here before Christmas but only an overnight on our way to Guadeloupe. This time we plan to stay longer to explore and perhaps do some diving.
Yesterday we went to Customs to check in which was super quick as I'd completed our arrival information in sailclear.com before leaving the Saintes. The officer also gave me clearance papers for two weeks from now. The total cost was £4 /$5 and we don't need to go back because checking into Martinique we don't need to show exit papers from our previous port. I like the simplicity.
Our first day ashore we also found Silver Linings car rental a fellow cruiser had recommended and have a car booked in two day's time for a couple of days. From what I've read and heard Dominica has waterfalls, canyons and volcanic hot springs up in the hills. There are plenty of guided tours we could sign on for; we like to do our own thing and David enjoys the drive.
