sailing passed Mt Pelee
A couple
of day sails from north Dominica and we're in the anchorage at Fort
de France once more. We stopped overnight in St Pierre at the north
tip of the island and and it was uncomfortably rolly. Once we were
sure Jackster was anchored securely (in FdF) we dealt with arrival
admin in super fast time; while our dirty laundry was getting sloshed
in the machine we stepped into the chandlers around the corner to do
check in and dashed over the road to pick up fancy French provisions
for dinner all in the time it took for a wash cycle to complete.
Yesterday
we took the bus a couple of miles inland to the Carrefour
hypermarket. Sometimes it's the small things in life that mean a
lot. Like a new kettle that pours without dripping. I should now
confess that we have four electric kettles; one doesn't switch off
automatically, one trips the electric system and one drips when you
pour. When we reach Grenada I shall defenestrate a couple keeping
one for back up just in case.Fort de France street scene
