16 October New sails arrive

It's been three days since we finished our haul out and returned to Port Louis, a busy three days clearing up, cleaning up and putting Jackster back together again.

David had noticed the bilge pump wasn't priming and we could hear it running constantly. When he pulled it apart he noticed there was some corrosion. It just happens we have been carry a new spare pump for three years (a happy find when we were in the US). Time for out with old and in with the new.

Another timely replacement arrived in Grenada over the weekend – new head and main sails made by Zoom Sails in Sri Lanka. We chose Zoom because they made our mizzen when we were in Malaysia and we are very happy with the quality and longevity. The out going head sail was made in NZ twelve years ago, the main made in Thailand is younger, only eight years old. The phrase 'they don't owe us anything' comes to mind.

Time to do the dance between Customs office, Fedex office and Post Office once again, but I'm a pro with the procedure and paperwork having done the same thing with a battery charger last week. The only difference is no car, so a long, hot walk today, and the parcels are far too large for me to carry. A polite request and the nice man at Fedex says he'll have then dropped off to the marina later this afternoon.
