Monday 17 March Diary of a lift out T-1

Good news is we've arrived at Pangkor in good time for our lift out tomorrow afternoon. The less good news is the travel lift has stopped working. Manager James and his team are working on it today and if they can't fix it he'll call for an engineer from KL to come out.
For us it was a hot, sweaty day preparing. When we're out of the water our first task is to clean and buff the fibre glass topsides. It's been two years since our last haul out. Two years since we acid washed, buffed and waxed the hull to gleaming clean and despite cleaning regularly sooty exhaust deposits have built up again. We did rust removal around the rub rail using a solution of oxalic acid and plenty of water to rinse, removed the headsail sheets and raised the protective headsail sleeve.
Today the rain began late afternoon.
