Five
days of day motoring more than sailing brought us to Palau Pisand
(Banana island) It had been another quiet night on anchor when the
alarm interrupted our dreams and we sprang up and out far too early
but like the saying 'tide and time wait for no man' we had a deadline
to reach the marina at Danga Bay.
Danga
Bay marina is up the river in Johor Bahru and the final eighth of a
mile is tide dependent when you draw 2.2m. There are dredgers
working constantly to lower the bottom but still we are limited to
two hours before high water until two hours after to clear the banks
and then we are limited to the outer berths as the inner ones would
be too shallow at low water. We'd like to keep the new antifoul
under the keel under the keel where we put it and not scraped off
into the mud.
By
setting off from Palau Pisang at 6.15am we reached Danga Bay at the
top of the tide just before 1pm. It had been motoring all the way,
not a breath of breeze to sail but with almost 2 knots of current
positive up the river.
We
ended the day tied up to a dock once more, power on and AC on. David and Jackster are staying here for three weeks, I'm popping home for a visit to family and friends.
