Friday 8 August More diving at Tun Sakaran

This was our last full day in the marine park and naturally diving was on the agenda using our dinghy and larger outboard motor to reach the closest point of the outer reef through the pass.
Maureen and Paul of Calypso joined us in the morning for a gentle drift along towing our dinghies on long painters. No turtles seen this morning and although we hunted under over hang for frog fish none were seen. It was still a good dive; ninety minutes of floating in warm water with all the time we wanted to watch the fish, study anemones for clown fish and to spot the nudibranchs.
In the afternoon we went back to the same spot but this time there wasn't a current and we were able to leave the dinghy hanging on it's anchor and swim the other way against a slight current. This was much better; green turtles the size of a small car, large cuttlefish, scorpionfish and the usual suspects. Forty five minutes into the dive the current strengthened, we turned around and were swept back to the dinghy in less than half the time.
Two good dives done we returned to the anchorage to collect Sue (Camomile) for her confidence building mini dive David had promised months ago, a little swim in shallow water off the beach. Over drinks she'd mentioned the PADI course she did a few years ago had left negative feelings about descending and mask clearing. I think David completed his mission – they returned to the beach, both smiling and laughing. Although there were smiles I don't think Sue will be signing up for her PADI advanced just yet.
