On the
north and east tip of Sulawesi there are three islands which we
thought might be worth exploring for one day. The distance from
Korakora is short and we arrived late morning. Using our satellite
image and the depth sounder we found a spot on the west side of
Bangkka in 10m sand and coral which would offer protection from wind
from south through to north.
We
tried to dive a known site but found it was being swept by current so
I did a shallow drift while David acted as surface cover. It was a
fair, nothing spectacular.
Late
afternoon the clouds gathered and we heard thunder until the rain
clouds gathered overhead and we saw lightning away to the east of us.
The rain and wind continued overnight turning a pleasant spot into a
rolly mess. Needless to say we left early next morning.
