Thursday 4 June Brunei bound

yacht club anchorage
Just when we thought we were fine the Gremlins strike. Reversing away from the pontoon at the start of our short trip to Brunei went smoothly. Putting the engine into forward gear didn't. After some shifting of the throttle forward was engaged but this is a clear indication of a malfunction which can only worsen. There have been other indicators over the last few months that all wasn't well so it wasn't a complete surprise
We continued the 15 mile motor to Brunei without incident. Dropped anchor off the yacht club and visited Customs and Immigration at the adjacent ferry terminal. It was the same warm welcome from the officials we received last year – all smiles and no costs for a 90 day visa.
RBYC pool and club house

We like the Royal Brunei Yacht Club. Temporary membership is £2.50 a day per boat and in return we are welcome to use the swimming pool, a FOC washing machine, internet and to eat in the BYO restaurant which serves excellent meals. What we saved on buying 850 litres of fuel more than covered what we spent in the restaurant and we used the free internet to order a new transmission from Florida to be delivered to Labuan in approximately two weeks' time.
